Those drums at the start are awesome! Like how did you even?!

Rest of the song is on the okay to good scale and is a fun listen.

Athanatos responds:

Thanks ! :)

I'm not too badly in to chillstep, but what you did with that piano in the background is amazing.
That sax part is amazing as well.

adieuwinter responds:

Thank you!

With some different vocals, I'd love this so hard. But I'm just not that into these kinds of vocals.

I like the melody that you use in the beginning, but it sounds like a preset from autogun. Now they're good presets (if you're not using preset then damn.), but it's something personal to me, that they sound amateurish and lazy, because that is how I've used them when I was learning to make music. But to give you the benefit of the doubt and I'll overlook that.

The thing that actually bothers me are the drums. They are a bit too loud imo and you're using samples that are quite common, and that cymbal just gets tiring.

But you've certainly got the melody part of this song down, it sounds really nice.

The guitars and bass are awesome, but the drums lack power, even though it sounds like the drummer is playing like his life depends on it :D

TSRBand responds:

Thank you :) still figuring out how to get those drums sounding their best! Glad you liked it.

Love it. The 1:20 lead, after the cutoff goes away, just awesome.

trunotfals responds:

Thank you! I worked hard on the lead, trying to get taht nice kind of airy sound that sounds nice with a floating/soaring melody! Thank you for appreciating that!

I wasn't aware that I like this sort of music, but now that I know I do, I want to listen to this on my phone.
Then I can't find the download button. That is the true sorrow here.

Kinda brings me a age of empires feel. Not really feeling the viking village, more like ancient Chinese?

DSykMusic responds:

Thanks for your review!

Re:Download Option I'll be using this a future game engine/audio implementation demo, so I'm keeping it exclusive.

Mix and master this song correctly and you'd be getting 4.5-5 score from me. Since though it's repetitive, I like that kind of music, techno house styled

I like overdrive and distortion, and I see what you're trying to do. The thing is that digital clipping doesn't sound good usually and your song is no exception. I can't pin point the exact thing that is clipping, so sorry about that.

Here is a few tips:
Listen to your songs with more than just one device (like headphones from different price ranges, or stereos).
Listen to the song with different settings (when it is exported) like bass boost or with flat eq.
Remember all songs are their own beasts, and require unique changes to make them sound good. Simply using a setting that has worked in the past, will quite quickly stop working. I tried this and thus I have the most crappiest sounding album I've ever heard.

And live recording is no excuse for bad mixing/mastering.

Also this "i wow see what i should of known that the competition was going to be main stream stuff" is bad for you and you should figure out why. It made me laugh though.

i quote
"Mix and master this song correctly and you'd be getting 4.5-5 score from me"
un quote.
Then try & remix/master it for your self if you feel good enough ..i on the other hand feel fine about this track it was so much fun to make really enjoyed every moment ;-)
& yes i do test music on many other settings & speaker set up /headphones ..
i try to avoid the main stream sounding stuff coz its kinda boring & predictable but i guess that's what a lot of people like ..."you" (& Others ) like ... so fine ? ..so do i sometimes too ...
but most the time
i do not
so why aim to make that ..?

I rarely like any happy/upbeat song especially dubstep, so the melodies and such didn't work for me that well.

But the melodies are not a problem, just not my cup o' tea

Now when I hear the word dubstep, I expect to hear some amount of bass, and through the first minute, everything is fine and average. After the 1:10 though. Did you forget something? It feels like you did.

I hope you realize that massive is not the only vst that can do dubstep wobbles. Actually most synths can do dubstep sounds, it's just that you have to know how different synthesi work.

On the levels of epic this scores high!

My favorite part is at 1:48

Sounds like it was mastered by a high pay studio engineer :3

I'm a bedroom music producer, från Finland. I make many different styles of music, but with my "PolarTrance" songs I have stuck with mostly electronic music. I play the guitar. I used to use the name DJC1P and E-Shock, all of those songs are my older work
